Every custom project begins with a plan. Whether you have a clear vision or need help working through the details, the custom design deposit allows me to begin developing your project, from initial planning and layout to design mock-ups and refinements.
Maple Works Designs offers a variety of custom work, including charcuterie boards, home decor, laser-engraved projects, personalized signs and more. Each project is unique, and the design process helps ensure the finished piece reflects your ideas and requirements.
The $100 design deposit gets the process started and is applied toward the final cost of your project if you decide to proceed.
How It Works

Place your deposit: Submit the $100 design deposit to get started.

Discuss your project: We'll go over your ideas, preferences, dimensions, materials and other important details.

Develop the design: I'll work on the layout and design mock-ups needed to bring your vision together.

Finalize your quote: Once the design and project details are confirmed, I'll provide a final quote for your approval.

Move into production: If you approve the quote and decide to proceed, your $100 deposit will be credited toward the total project cost. The remaining balance will be invoiced before fabrication begins.
What Your Deposit Covers
Your design deposit covers the initial work involved in developing your custom project, including:

Refinements needed to establish the proposed design
The amount of design work required will vary depending on the project. Additional design work beyond the initial scope may require a separate agreement before proceeding.
Design Deposit & Refund Policy
The $100 design deposit covers the initial consultation, planning and design work required to develop your custom project. If you proceed with the finished piece, the deposit will be credited toward your final project total.
Before design work begins: If you cancel before I have started work on your design, your deposit will be refunded in full.
Once design work has begun: The deposit is non-refundable because it compensates for the time and work invested in your project, including consultation, design planning, layout development and mockups. If you decide not to proceed with the finished piece after design work has started, the deposit will be retained to cover this work.
This policy is subject to any cancellation or refund rights that apply under Ontario law.
Timing
Design timelines depend on the complexity of your project and the current shop schedule. I'll provide an estimated timeline once we've discussed your requirements.
Submitting a design deposit allows me to begin the design process; it does not guarantee an immediate production date. Fabrication will begin once the design, final quote and project details have been approved.
